We are a charity with a £1.5m turnover, working with over 500 disadvantaged young people each year. We have three Life Skills centres in Leicester, Loughborough and Derby.
TwentyTwenty was established as a charity seeking to transform the lives of young people in Loughborough and has grown to respond to the growing issue of youth unemployment in the region. We have developed a reputation for being an organisation that is exceptional at working with some of the hardest to reach young people and recognise there is a need for our services in other cities, so, with the right model and at the right time, we are committed to sustainable growth.
We are managed by our board of trustees and our Chief Executive leads the senior leadership team which comprises of our Operations Director, Operations Manager, Performance and Delivery Director, Business Development Director and Finance Manager.
The People We Support
TwentyTwenty is dedicated to ensuring young people, aged 16-24, who find themselves disadvantaged and disengaged, achieve sustained further education or employment. Young people who have disengaged from education are referred to us by partners including schools, Connexions, Youth Offending Teams and social services.
Our training programmes mainly support 16 – 24 year olds but we also work with a small number of Pre-16’s and run a Love for Life youth work programme addressing issues around relationships and sex education.
Finally we run a large mentoring programme, connecting volunteer mentors with young people aged 10 - 19 across Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The young people we work with will typically never have achieved a level 2 qualification before and often have a number of safeguarding issues including anxiety, suicide ideation, homelessness, neglect and abuse.
We work closely with other agencies to ensure the young people receive the support necessary to overcome their barriers to employment and develop the self-management skills to achieve in education. Our ultimate aim for every young person we work with is for them to find and keep a good job.
The Services We Provide
Our Pre 16 programme supports young people that are experiencing difficulties within school. We provide 121 support within our centres working with young people around social and emotional issues as well increasing their attainment in school. Our aim is to get them back into the school environment where they can continue to learn and thrive.
Our Love4Life programme specialises in delivering targeted relationship and sex education by supporting young people with issues including sexual health, staying safe and the potential risk of sexual exploitation. This is done through 1-to-1 specialist pastoral support (referral service), Workshops and Girls Groups.
Our Engage programme is an eight week interactive course to help 16-24 year olds: it aims to build self-confidence, learn to deal with difficult situations, try new things and meet new people, make positive choices about what to do next and get ready to move on to study or work.
Our Journey2Work programme lasts for 6 months and is an employability focused course. Young people gain new confidence, get real work experience and learn vital employability skills, meet lots of local employers and learn about great job opportunities. Our aim is that young people will move on to further education or employment and achieve qualifications in Maths, English and ICT
All of our young people receive support from a coach and can access counselling services as well as our specialized safeguarding support while they are on our programmes.
Across all of our programmes we are constantly driving for improvement in the outcomes we achieve. We are changing how we work as we develop a culture whereby we want data to drive our decisions more than ever before. In 2015/16 we had 80% attendance rate across our courses and 80% of the young people we supported progressed into education (48%) or employment (52%).
