About South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation
We are South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation and we are here to support and build strong and resilient communities across the region.
We support community groups with grant funding; helping people facing hardship and disadvantage and supporting those groups working to improve the communities they live in.
We connect people who care about South Yorkshire and have the means to invest in its future with the community groups striving to build stronger and healthier communities.
We were founded in 1986 because we believe…
- everyone deserves the same opportunities to fulfil their potential, no matter where they live
- we can achieve economic, social and physical wellbeing across South Yorkshire
- that we can build stronger communities
- giving local can transform lives
For the last 35 years, we have raised and distributed over £32m in grants to community and voluntary projects and created an Endowment of over £12m to create a lasting legacy that will continue to support South Yorkshire for many years to come.
South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation is a part of the UK Community Foundations network made up of 46 Community Foundations across the UK, which manage a total endowment of £690 million. We have been quality accredited by the UK Community Foundation through external assessors to standards endorsed by the Charity Commission.
