Rotherham Hospice is an independent charitable organisation that has been delivering much valued, high quality care and support for the people of Rotherham for 25 years.

Starting as a Day Hospice, we have grown to a 14 bed Inpatient Unit, with capacity for 75 Day Hospice places every week. Last year Rotherham Hospice provided Palliative Care Support and End of Life Care to 3901 people across the borough. We provide much needed support to patients and their families and people who are important to them, whether that is in our purpose-built facility in Rotherham, out in the community or in peoples’ homes. We provide tailored support for each individual, from mental wellbeing, through to pain control and end of life care.

We continue to increase the number of people we provide services for year on year. We are able to demonstrate growth and development across all of our services.

The people we support have free access to the care we provide. This is only possible through the generosity of our community, which is hard fought for. In this financial year, it will cost £6m to run Rotherham Hospice (nearly £14,000 per day).

Over £2.5m of this will need to be raised through voluntary donations. In addition, we have an excellent relationship with our Clinical Commissioning Group from whom we receive NHS funding.

Going forward, we are building on a strategic plan with an ambitious programme of development and growth. Our fundraising team are enthusiastic and focused on our goals. They are currently transitioning to a flat structure to allow them to thrive further and we will require an inspirational and energetic leader help this to happen.

Within our Retail Team, we currently have 9 shops including an online store, each managed by a Shop Manager, supported overall by the Head of Retail. We also have a number of wonderful volunteers supporting us in the shops.

We are seeking someone who can build on the solid base we have. The successful candidate will be an experienced professional with strong leadership and management skills, with a successful track record of income generation and change management.

Demonstrating strategic vision and intellect, commitment and enthusiasm, you will have an enterprising and innovative approach, which will lead your loyal teams to achieve great things.

You will also be part of the Executive Team of Directors and will contribute to the overall strategic vision and objectives setting process, providing support to your Executive colleagues who work closely as a team.

As important as any of the qualities mentioned previously is that the candidate will share the values of Rotherham Hospice and will contribute to the ethos of the organisation in order to flourish in what is a varied, challenging and exciting role.

This appointment could not be more crucial for Rotherham Hospice and we will be careful to select the right person to help us achieve our aims; helping us to provide the very best care and support to people in Rotherham.
