The company

Brewster Partners are delighted to be supporting The Coal Industry Social Welfare Organisation (CISWO) to recruit Trustees to strengthen their existing board.

CISWO is a UK wide charity providing support for former coal miners and their families and since 1995 have been improving lives and reducing disadvantage in former coal mining communities. They provide services across the country in all former coalfield areas to help former mineworkers and their families most in need through CISWO’s personal welfare service. CISWO are custodians of one of the largest portfolios of recreational land in the UK, and work to secure the future of recreational facilities in former coal mining communities and work with local mining charities to ensure their services continue.

The job

As CISWO look to the future, they are looking to recruit Trustees to join the board at an exciting time in their development which includes looking at the delivery model, branding and increased focus on investing in local facilities.

As a Trustee you will be a ‘critical friend’ to the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team and along with the other members of the board ensure that the organisation continues to provide the support and care to its beneficiaries whilst also developing to reach its future aims.

We are interested in hearing from future Trustees with any skillset but particularly:

  • Health and social care sector
  • Professional legal background
  • Property and land management

You will need to be able to commit to attending full board meetings a year and sub committees as required.

The person

CISWO are looking for dynamic, engaged individuals who will provide leadership and experience, as well as challenge.  You will ideally operate at a strategic level and have the time to commit to the role along with the ability to converse at all levels internally and externally.

CISWO strives for equality of opportunity in all its activities.  It therefore welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.
